FINALISTS ANNOUNCED IN THE THIRD GLOBAL ART AWARDS

November 10, 2020 in Global Art Awards 2020

Winners to be revealed parallel to the Shanghai International Art Fair on 21st November 2020

Shanghai, China, 10th November 2020: The Finalists have been announced in the 2020 Global Art Awards, one of the annual highlights of the visual arts world.

Talented artists from across the globe competing in eight different categories will find out on 21st November if they have been victorious when the winners are announced live from Shanghai, China's contemporary art capital, alongside this year's Shanghai International Art Fair taking place in the city.

Now in their third year, the Global Art Awards were established to recognise and celebrate the achievements and contributions made by artists, galleries and art professionals worldwide. Categories range from painting (realism, figurative, abstract), digital art, mixed media and graffiti to digital art, photography, illustration and sculpture, with prizes worth more than $10,000 at stake in each.

Public votes as well as those from an acclaimed panel of jurors combine to decide which artist in each category will be awarded the title of winner. The Global Art Awards also honour one artist from all the category winners who will receive the title of “The Best Global Artist of 2020” and with it free exhibition at the next Shanghai International Art Fair, gallery exhibition opportunities as well as support and mentoring from the Global Art Agency team, organisers of The Global Art Awards.

This year's shortlist can be viewed here and the winners will be announced online on The Global Art Awards website, Facebook page and Instagram page as well as YouTube on 21st November at 20pm European time.

Not even a global pandemic has stemmed interest in the awards, with record numbers of artists being nominated this year, as Global Art Awards founder and award-winning art entrepreneur Joëlle Dinnage explains.

"This year's awards have truly surpassed everything we've seen in previous years. More artists than ever before have been nominated and the calibre of entries has been exceptional, giving the jurors plenty to think about," she says. "What's more, art lovers from around the world have seized the opportunity to vote for their favourites, with thousands having their say on who should win.

"We are all-set for an amazing night on 21st November when we can finally reveal the eight category winners and the one artist who will be named The Best Global Artist of 2020, she says. "Join us virtually on the night to help share in all the participating artists' success as well as to celebrate the winners," she adds.

The Global Art Awards will take place alongside The Shanghai International Art Fair  at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre, Shanghai from 19th to 22nd November 2020.  Now in its second successful year, the fair is being co-hosted by the government of Shanghai, Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province, and is set to welcome more than 120,000 visitors over four days. More information about the event is at www.theshanghaiartfair.com
