Michael Lam moved from the East to New York City over 25 years ago. He created Single Stoke Painting in 2003 base on calligraphy. In his work, compositional harmony and rhythm are centerpieces of his unique artistic style.
He is an international winner artist and had exhibition all over the world. Lam’s inspiration is the elevation of the human spirit to a higher plane of awareness, sensation and actualization. His work permanently displays in the New York City Library, collected by Columbia University and international art museums. Local and international collectors find his work to be of immense value.

Tell us about your nominated art piece for the Global Art Awards?
This artwork is a Single Stroke Painting. I created Single Stroke Painting style in 2003. Unlike traditional paintings, I cannot repaint, add, or subtract paint to perfect particular parts of the painting. Single Stroke Painting requires mastering a number of variables such as the properties of paper, ink and brush, and the pressure applied in one swift motion. Many precise and calculations have to be made when creating a successful single Stroke Painting.
How does it make you feel that you are a nominee for the Global Art Awards?
The Global Art Awards is a high standard honor awards. As a nominee for the Global Art Awards, it gives me supplement to stimulate my creation. It benefits my mind and my work.
How would you react if you win a Global Art Award at the Armani Dubai Burj Khalifa surrounded by international Press and the Elite from the Art World?
First of all, I am thankful to the Global Art Awards for selecting me. It is my honor to be the winner. Through this special good chance, I will tell younger artists that enthusiasm and persistence are the key to the success.
What is your definition of art?
Art is a silent language. It can connect the world and influence human beings with its remarkable power.
Greatest achievements so far…?
I can use my work deliver the message of Love and Peace to the world. In 2016, I received the honor title as Messenger of Peace from ATIM. I have used my work to support many foundations for the children.
