Recognising excellence and innovation in art and design, the world’s first ever Global Art Awards will celebrate exceptional achievements of artists from across the globe. Featuring 18 Visual Arts categories, including Photography, Street Art, Illustration, and Painting, there has already been overwhelming interest with over 180 artists already nominated for the coveted prize, within only a couple of months time. Amongst them are famous and renowned artists, and upcoming talent.
Jamal Habroush Al Suwaidi
Najat Meky - Acclaimed Emirati artist Dr Najat Meky is one of the UAE's pioneering contemporary artists.
Jamal Habroush Al Suwaidi - who was born in Ajman, primarily creates abstract metal sculptures that take inspiration from his country’s landscape and Arabic calligraphy – the two themes that define the 45-year-old Emirati as an artist. His inspiration comes from American-Japanese artist and landscape architect named Isamu Noguchi. Jamal is nominated in the Sculpture Award Category.
Zahra (Souren) Mousavi
Zahra (Souren) Mousavi - with influences from Dali, Picasso and Klimt Souren is destined to be one of the leading female artists of the 21st Century.
Mousavi was born is Persia in 1969 and her ancestral family is linked to the Persian Monarchy. Her childhood found her embroiled in the Iran-Iraq war which was to have a lasting impact on her life. Souren`s passion for all things artistic eventually resulted in her graduating with a Master’s Degree in Fine Art from the University of Tehran.
Whilst this was the start of a promising career as both an artist and graphic designer, her time at University saw Souren learning to voice her opinions and to explore her passion for women's rights.
Michael lam - is a winner of international artist. He lives in New York city. He has exhibition all over the world. He uses his work to send out the message of Peace and Love. He is the messenger of Peace appointed by ATIM.
Aristotelis Deligiannidis - born 1984 in Kavala, Greece, where he lives and works. Studied Mathematics at the University of Ioannina, Greece (2001-2004).
Michael Moebius - born in Germany living in USA, travels the world exhibiting at upscale galleries and events, including a major collection of varied artworks on display and for sale at Mouche Gallery in Beverly Hills and Maui.
Apart from these nominated artist there are over 180 artists all to be voted for by the public through the Global Art Awards website here, where you can find the likes such as award-winning contemporary Islamic Artist Siddiqa Juma and many others; Igor Eugen Prokop (Budapest), Janice Alamanou (UK), Grady Zeeman (South Africa), Barbara McGivern (Toronto), Brigitte Thonhauser (Vienna), Gina Georgeta Plunder (Romania), August Vilella (Barcelona) and Manu Algueró (Barcelona).
The Jury will announce the shortlisted artists for each category in October 2017, they will choose from the top 100 most voted artists.
The eleven-month programme will culminate in an exquisite red carpet Gala event in Dubai on 17th November 2017, at the Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa. Dubbed to be the ‘Oscars of the Visual Arts’, the high-profile evening will see the likes of internationally acclaimed artists, art critics, art dealers, art collectors, art fair directors, museum directors, TV & radio personalities, and business leaders in attendance.
