The Global Art Awards 2020 SHANGHAI EDITION

After two successful Awards Ceremonies in Dubai we now take the Global Art Awards to Shanghai! Parallel to the Shanghai International Art Fair we will be announcing the winners of the 3rd online art awards competition live from Shanghai on 21st November 2020 hosted by the Governments of Shanghai, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province and Anhui Province. Open to artist and gallery worldwide, they can submit for nomination online to win one of the 8 categories prices and trophies.

Finalists Shortlist Announced for World’s First Ever Global Art Awards in Dubai

Set to take place at the Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa on 17th November 2017, the shortlist has been announced for the inaugural edition of the awards with a strong number of regional finalists.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, October 2017 – Recognising excellence and innovation in art and design, the world’s first ever Global Art Awards, celebrating exceptional achievements of artists from across the globe has released its shortlist of finalists ahead of next month’s gala ceremony.

Featuring 18 Visual Arts categories, including Photography, Street Art, Illustration, and Painting, submissions were in the thousands as applicants from across the globe compete to win the accolade in the category of their choice.

Highlights from the shortlisted finalists include;

Emirati National Jamal Habroush Al Suwaidi’s work is influenced by his relationship with the local environment of UAE, and what it comprises from both historical stereotactic notions, and concepts arising from change and prosper. He is a finalist in the Sculpture Art.

The most popular category for nominations – Painting, saw more than 278 entries, with finalists from a plethora of nationalities including, Zahra Souren Mousavi with Espejitos Butterflies. The award-winning Persian artist Mousavi’s first exhibition sold out in the UK in 2003 and since then she has won numerous awards and featured in titles such as Sunday Times Art Review, Reuters Artwork Review as well as claiming front cover for ArtBusiness Magazine - Miami Art Basel 2015.

Australian born Contemporary painter, Cindy Parsley has enjoyed outstanding success in the USA. Her paintings have been displayed in Milano, Monaco. Carrousel du louvre, Paris, and Miami. Cindy was awarded first place in a recent competition, her colorful and intriguing abstraction taking out the prize for both Acrylic & Oils. Her painting Enigmatic World was a sure choice for the final shortlist.

Award-winning Saudi National Siddiqa Juma specialises in Contemporary Islamic Art to inspire and create conversation. In 2016, she was a guest exhibitor at the Saudi National Creative Initiative and in 2017 Juma was commissioned by the Mayor of London’s office to create a collaborative piece “Unity for London” which was exhibited at Trafalgar Square, London, England. Juma competes for a Global Art accolade with her painting Diversity.

Viennese artist Brigitte Thonhauser-Merk expresses her love for harmonious colours and clear lines in works full of power, vivid colours and elegance. Her abstract work is shortlisted in the Illustration Art category.

In the Mixed Media category, Fine Art Photographer Janice Alamanou presents Gold Leaf. Alamanou’s work exhibits permanently in England, Florence, Barcelona and Austria, the artist has won multiple accolades including British Institute of Professional Photography’s Professional Photography Awards.

Riya Sharma is an Internationally renowned travel photographer from India, who has represented the country international with more than 100 awards under her belt. She makes the finalists list in the Photography category- Majestic Elephant.

The eleven-month programme culminates in an exquisite red-carpet Gala event in Dubai on 17th November 2017, at the Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa. From 4pm to 8pm guests can register to attend the exhibition curated by MEACA taking place at the Armani Hotel Ballroom Foyer, and from 8pm doors open for the gala event, strictly by table reservations only.

Dubbed to be the ‘Oscars of the Visual Arts’, the high-profile evening will see the likes of internationally acclaimed artists, art critics, art dealers, art collectors, art fair directors, museum directors, TV & radio personalities, and business leaders in attendance.
